The first documented records of the winery date back to the year 1828.
The favorable Mediterranean climate in and around Bad Kreuznach and the different types of soil on the Nahe
offered ideal conditions for the cultivation of various grape varieties and high quality wine in the Mees Estate.
In 2003 we, winemaker Roland Mees and Dagmar Mees took over the management,
Lukas Mees, state-certified economist for viticulture and oenology, will continue the winery in the eighth generation.
With great commitment we produce according to the latest quality standards
while maintaining the diversity of grape varieties modern, high quality and premium wines.
Especially Riesling finds here optimal conditions,
but also Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc are among the most significant grape varieties.
We also cultivate Silvaner, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Scheurebe, Rivaner, Dornfelder, Dunkelfelder and Portugieser
as well as exotic grape varieties, such as Huxelrebe, Kanzlerrebe and Muscat-Ottonel.
The center of all our efforts is the product wine.
Expertise and experience,
yield reduction, the targeted use of modern viticulture and cellar technology
and quality-oriented, ambitious manual work,
continuous education under regard of the changes,
that result from climate change and most importantly:
- our love for good wines -
are our conditions to produce high quality, fruity-aromatic and storable estate wines.
2016er Kreuznacher Paradies
Blauer Spätburgunder Rotwein trocken
88 P. Pinot Noir Trophy 2019:
"Quite complex in the fragrance: raisin, strawberry, black pepper, mint.
On the palate, a fairly elegant, light to medium-weight wine, the mature, restrained extracted tannins
do not oppose the juicy drinking flow.
Solid craftsmanship, authentically rounded in a large wooden barrel. Price-performance tip! " ►
Our tip for the weekend:
VINTNER´S BARBEQUE BBQ
Authentic grape vine - an aromatic-spicy barbecue fun!
- just add to the barbeque coal
and matching: three fresh summer wines, white, rosé and red, dry or fruity
This is how we winemakers grill - delicious!
The asparagus season is open:
Best asparagus is now on the market, but even the most sophisticated asparagus dish is nothing without the matching wine.
Our fine Nahe wines are well-known as asparagus companion for their fruitiness and moderate acidity.
