The first documented records of the winery date back to the year 1828.
The favorable Mediterranean climate in and around Bad Kreuznach and the different types of soil on the Nahe
offered ideal conditions for the cultivation of various grape varieties and high quality wine in the Mees Estate.
Since 2020, master vintners Roland Mees and Lukas Mees, state-certified master vintners and economists for viticulture and oenology,
run the winery in the seventh and eighth generation.
The center of all our efforts is the product wine.
Expertise and experience,
yield reduction, the targeted use of modern viticulture and cellar technology
and quality-oriented, ambitious manual work,
continuous education under regard of the changes,
that result from climate change and most importantly:
- our love for good wines -
are our conditions to produce modern high quality, fruity-aromatic and storable wines.
With great commitment, we produce modern, high-quality and premium wines
according to the latest quality standards while maintaining the variety of grape varieties.
Especially Riesling finds optimal conditions here, but Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc are also among the most important grape varieties.
We also cultivate Silvaner, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Scheurebe, Rivaner, Dornfelder, Dunkelfelder and Portugieser,
as well as exotic grape varieties such as Kanzlerrebe and Muscat Ottonel.
Our wines currently grow on around 15 hectares of vineyards in the Kreuznacher Paradies, Kreuznacher Rosenberg and Kreuznacher Kronenberg vineyards.
Our products are fruity, elegant white wines, fresh rosé wines,
Sparkling wine from traditional bottle fermentation and full-bodied, mash-fermented red wines matured in oak barrels
dry in the flavors half-dry, semi-dry and off-dry and fruity and sweet to sweet.
