WHITE WINES OF THE GRAPE VARIETY RIESLING

Riesling - the king of white wines. His kingdom are the cool regions with their heat-retaining soil.

From it arise the most characteristic and most noble wines whose most distinctive features are the acid and the elegant peach scent.

Also apple and apricot tones or subtle shades of citrus and flowers are typical for Riesling.

Depending on the substrate the winessmell like mineral or "steely".

The fruit is juicy and refreshing and the racy acidity gives the Riesling structure and an elegant and savory finish.

Matured Rieslings often develop a flavor that you can describe with "petrol tone".

The strong acidity tolerates well a certain sweetness. Therefore, one should also try semi-dry to sweet Rieslings.

The White Riesling is the most valuable grape of the northern wine regions.

From the juice of his grapes the finest wines originate.

origin:

The provenance of the Riesling was desribed by the Roman writer Pliny ( 23 - 79 AD ) as a

derive of ammineic vine, but it is only a vague conjecture.

Rather, the Riesling developed in the Rhine valley from a natural wild grape crossing (wild grape x Heunisch) x Traminer.

The latter specimens of wild vines can still be found today in the fertile-woods of the Upper Rhine.
