white wine l sweet l Nahe
Fruity and spicy...
This grape variety, which is not typical for the Nahe region, was established in the winery by Roland Mees' grandfather, Heinrich Mees,
the last mayor of Bosenheim before the incorporation by the city of Bad Kreuznach in 1969, in his youth.
A small number of vines is still preserved today and we obtain high-quality grapes for this white wine rarity through multiple yield reductions, defoliation of the grape zone and a long ripening period.
The wines of the Muskat-Ottonel have a greenish-yellow color and an intense, fine and spicy nutmeg aroma
and very fine citrus flavors in high grade levels.
Muscat Ottonel is a native of French white wine.
Jean-Pierre Vibert from Angers selected the variety in 1839 from a seedling, that he found.
It was also distributed in Angers byJean Moreau-Robert in 1852.
The crossing partners are Chasselas and Muscat d'Eisenstadt.
Muskat-Ottonel is also important for the Alsace as Muscat d'Alsace.
The variety is now also in Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary, in Luxembourg, Moldova, Ukraine, South Africa and Canada as well
as in Germany (Klingenberg / Franken).
